Laurine Helen (Loebig) Schuler, 85, of Tulsa, OK passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 12, 2016. Born April 16, 1930 to the late Frank and Mary (Schwartzer) Loebig. Laurine graduated from Brentwood High School, Pittsburgh in 1948, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and Valedictorian. She was an avid swimmer, having participated in synchronized swimming performances and won numerous awards and medals in swimming competitions in the Pittsburgh area with the Pittsburgh Water Babies.

Laurine received her Dental Hygiene Degree from West Liberty State College in West Liberty, WV where she graduated first in her class. After graduation she was the Dental Hygienist for the McKeesport School District and introduced "Bristles" the puppet to the children. She continued her career with a number of dentists in the Pittsburgh area.

Laurine, a two-time breast cancer survivor, returned to the pool after recovery where she taught young children to swim. She also devoted time to training for competitive swimming in the US Master's Swimming Program and Senior Olympic swimming competitions. Her effortless swimming stroke and goggles-on-forehead smile will be missed by many.

Laurine cherished the lasting friendships the games of tennis and bridge brought into her life. She also enjoyed volunteering and supporting Meals on Wheels, the American Cancer Society, and founding the Pink Ribbon Luncheon of Tulsa.

Beloved wife of 60 years to Regis Schuler; they met at the neighborhood pool while lifeguarding. It is often heard that Laurine was the woman behind the man though she always stood at his side proud to be his wife and the mother to her four children. Laurine is survived by her children, Tom (Cory) Schuler, Diane (Mark) Waldheim, John (Paula) Schuler, and Bruce (Peggy) Schuler; and by eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and brother, Frank "Bud" (Marly) Loebig. Laurine was preceded in death by her sister, Elsie (Jack) Kraft and brother, Richard (June) Loebig.

A Memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 15, 2016 at Church of the Resurrection Catholic Church, 4804 South Fulton Street, Tulsa, OK 74135 with Father Jim McGlinchey officiating.
