LaVelta D. White a resident of Skiatook, OK passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018 just before midnight, at the age of 87, with her family by her side. She was born on September 26, 1930 in Blackwell.
Memorial service will be held at Lakeview Southern Baptist Church, 5480 W C Rogers Blvd. on HWY 20 in Skiatook, on Friday, June 15 at 12:00 p.m., (noon). Graveside service will be in Nowata. Visitation will be Thursday, June 14th from 6 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moore's Memory Chapel 1403 S. Peoria Ave., Tulsa.
LaVelta attended Skiatook High School and was a member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, advancing to Eastern Star.
She was a lifelong waitress and cashier having worked many years at Claybrook's Restaurant in Turley, and OneOak Cafeteria in downtown Tulsa.
She was the proud mother of eight children, 19 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild. Survivors include, daughters, Jannie Barnes (Skiatook) and husband, Don; Connie Morris (Bearden) and husband, Wayne; Diane Rabe (Broken Arrow) and husband, Bo; Javada Barnes (Skiatook) and husband Larry; Sherry Lillard (Owasso) and husband, Roy; sons, Dan Rutledge (Skiatook) and wife, Jan; Randy Rutledge (Broken Arrow) and wife, Kim; and Mark Rutledge (Broken Arrow) and wife, Sandy.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, John E. Sheely and Mary Ernie; sister, Shirley Dye of Elk City; husband and the love of her life, George A. White; and grandson, Justin Rutledge.
