Obituary

Dee Worthy, 81, of Tulsa, OK, died on Friday, October, 29, 2021, in Tulsa, OK. He was born on Friday, May 17, 1940, in Pawnee, OK, to Lawrence E. Worthy and Nadine Marcel (Reed) Worthy. Dee was a graduate of Pawnee, OK, High School where he played football.
Dee earned his Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Arts from the University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg, MI, and earned a double Master's Degree in Public Administration and Management from Webster University, Webster Groves, MO.
Dee met the love of his life, Christine Swords, in 1959, at Tonkawa, OK, and they were married on Sunday, July 2, 1961, in Tonkawa, OK. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Tulsa, OK.
Dee was proud to have served as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 to 1982, as a Ground Radio Communications Superintendent and Radio Relay Equipment Technician. He received many accommodations and earned many medals, before being Honorably Discharged. After retiring from the U.S. Air Force, Dee worked for Verizon Telecommunications in Technical Support.
Dee was proud of his 4 children,13 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren, and always gave unconditional love and support. He was a man of integrity, who instilled in his family gratitude for education and many other blessings. He valued his relationships with family, and enjoyed attending family events; especially, Christine's mother's monthly family dinner. Dee's passion was being a Ham Radio Operator. His call-sign was WA5GMN, and he spent many enjoyable hours talking with other operators.
Dee is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Christine; son, Jared Lee Worthy and wife, Amanda, of Tulsa, OK; daughters, Judy Lee Carter and husband, William, of Maryland, Elizabeth Ann Worthy of Harrah, OK, and Margaret Dee Dickerson and husband, Glenn, of Brazoria, TX; brothers, Clifford E. Worthy and wife, Marge, of Osage Beech, MO, and Gary L. Worthy and wife Peggy of Sand Springs, OK; sister, Brenda Mowery of Broken Arrow, OK; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter, Crystal Carter; and brother, Donald L. Worthy.
