Leatrice (or 'Lea') will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was known by her granddaughters and others as "Granny", and was a loyal friend. She was a welcoming hostess and was known as a wonderful cook. She enjoyed baking cakes and making her granddaughters their favorite foods. She was an avid reader, enjoyed art, and loved watching golf and her OU Sooners.
Lea graduated a year early from high school in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1944, and went straight to work during the war at Douglas Aircraft Company for a year. After the war, she attended the Oklahoma School of Business and moved to Comanche, Oklahoma.
Leatrice met her husband Juarez in Comanche, Oklahoma in 1944 and they married on May 18, 1946. They lived in Comanche for 21 years, where she hosted family dinners, took art lessons, loved growing irises, and was a member of the garden club.
Lea worked at White Shield Oil and Gas for 3 years, and at Haliburton in Duncan, Oklahoma for 13 years, in their accounting department.
Their son, Jay Alexander, was born on May 10, 1964, which fell on Mother's Day that year. They moved back to Tulsa in 1967 and Lea returned to work at Seismograph Service Corporation in Tulsa for 2 years.
Together with her sister and brother-in-law, they owned and operated a family laundromat for 10 years in Tulsa, and then went to work as a bookkeeper at her brother-in-law's business, Sooner Office Supply. She worked alongside her sister and also with Jay, until she retired.
Her family will miss her until we meet again. We are filled with joy and thank our Lord Jesus Christ that she can now see clearly and that there will be no more pain.
