We lost this incredible wife, mother and friend on June 3rd after a long illness. She was surrounded by her family who found comfort in her peaceful passing. Lee was born as Bok Soon Lee in 1937 in Seoul, Korea. She met her husband, Jim Dees, while he was stationed there with the Army. Their marriage lasted 58 years. She is survived by her devoted husband Jim, daughter Cynthia Dees, son Robert Dees and stepson James "Cubby" Dees, plus grandchildren Stephanie, James, Anthony and Adam Dees.
Lee changed her legal name at the same time she became a United States Citizen. She made a lot of friends and was very active in her church and with the local Korean Community. Many of her friends knew her as "Pepsi Lee", a nickname they gave her because of her husband's employer, even though he actually worked for Coca-Cola.
Lee had many talents - she was known as one of the best kimchi makers in Tulsa and she would make huge batches to sell to friends, and then tithe the money to her church. She was an incredible gardener and was once featured in the Tulsa World newspaper for the gourds she grew. She was also a very good poker player and knew how to bluff her way around the table.
She was a nurturing mother, putting her children's needs above hers always. She worked two jobs to put her children through college so they would not have to go into debt to get an education.
Our hearts are broken and our world will never be the same with her gone.
