Obituary

Lee Earl Hayes

Lee Earl Hayes was born in Sand Springs, Oklahoma on August 6, 1933.
He graduated from Charles Page High School in 1952. He played for the football team as a Running Back. He had aspired to attend Oklahoma University to play football but instead enlisted in the Army during the Korean War. He wanted to reenlist in the Air Force, however he had to discharge to care for his new family.
Later in life he had the opportunity to get involved with the Air Force Association, Tulsa Chapter. He went on to serve as President for two terms in the late 90's and early 2000. During his term he met many Five Star Generals and flew on a refueling mission.
He had a career in the Sales Management field. He was forced to retire from Hoffman-LaRoche in the early 1970's. He continued to work in Sales in the Tulsa area. His final job was working at Sam's Wholesale Club. He worked at the service station, helping people, until he was accidentally hit by a car and broke his hip in July 2013.
He was a member of South Tulsa Baptist Church where he made many friends.
He always stayed active during his later years when his health would allow. He was a wonderful storyteller and never met a stranger. His friends and family called him Gabby Hayes.
He was quite a Ladies Man and had an eye for pretty girls.
Up until the day he passed he would flirt with his caretaker, asking them out on dates when he got to feeling better!
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd W. & Verena (Pearce) Hayes, his infant daughter, Pamela Jill Hayes and his siblings, Juanita Milam, Leon (Jelly) Hayes and Howard Hayes.
