Obituary

Lee Aaron Keeling passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at the age of 95. Lee was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on March 29, 1924 to parents Oscar Lee Keeling and Anna Irma Cunningham. He grew up in Oklahoma City, graduating from Classen High School in 1942. Upon graduating from high school, Lee enlisted in the Air Force and served as an Air Force Pilot during WWII. In 1945 he married his high school sweetheart, Aurilee Jeanette Ferguson, and eventually settled in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 1949, Lee earned a B.S in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Tulsa where he was also a member of Alpha Tau Omega and captain of the tennis team. Aurilee preceded him in death in 2008.
Lee entered the petroleum consulting field in 1952, specializing in petroleum engineering and the appraisal of oil and gas properties. He founded Lee Keeling and Associates, Inc. in 1957. Originally, the firm provided specific and exclusive engineering service to the oil and gas exploration and production industry. Throughout the years, the firm grew and expanded its capabilities over a broad spectrum of expertise, eventually consulting on all aspects of petroleum geology and engineering for both domestic and international projects. Under his leadership the firm grew to national and international recognition. Lee's work led him to travel extensively in Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Alaska and the Middle East
In 2008, Lee was inducted into the University of Tulsa Engineering Hall of Fame, which "honors the outstanding accomplishments and contributions of individuals who contribute to the advancement of engineering, science and technology, leading to an enriched future for the nation and the world".
Lee was an amazing friend, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a joy to his family and friends, and will be fondly remembered for his generous heart, keen humor, ready smile and the twinkle in his blue eyes. Lee's family especially loved his many stories, sound advice, his devotion to his family, and his fondness for playing golf on as many courses as he could conquer. He loved his family deeply, and was always there for those who depended on him.
A loyal man of great integrity, he lived his life honorably and will be sorely missed by those he leaves behind which include his daughters, Margaret Keeling (Jim), Pamela Keeling Dreisin (Robert), grandchildren Lynn Ann Tudor (Chris), Kim Allison (Casey), Alex Dreisin, David Dreisin, and great-grandchildren Ella Tudor, Carson Tudor and Evelynn Allison.
