Gates, Leon Martin, 82 of Catoosa passed away Monday, November 20th, 2017. He was born May 4th, 1935 in Winfield, KS to Charles Nolan and Rosa L. Gates. He retired from the Tulsa Police Department in May of 1987. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Catoosa and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gold prospecting and woodworking. Leon is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Lorine Gates; his children, Mary Louise Queen and her husband Brooks of Broken Arrow; Steven Leon Gates and his wife Paula of Corpus Christi, TX; Robert E. Gates and his wife Rita of Broken Arrow; Ernest Nolan Gates and his wife Deborah of Bentonville, AR; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Eugene Gates.
Memorial contributions may be made to the "Little Light House" 5120 E. 36th St., Tulsa, OK 74135, in recognition of the impact and difference they made on Daniel Queen's life (Leon's grandson).
