Obituary

Alfred Leon Stagg was born on a farm east of Delhi, OK to Ethel and Fred Stagg. Their family included three sisters: Clella, Carolyn, and JoAnn. Their family lived in Hext, OK, running a grocery and gas store. Leon went to school in Hext and would often joke that he graduated 3rd in his class of three students. After high school graduation, he attended Sayer Junior College and received an Associates Degree.

In February, 1951 Leon was drafted into the US Army and was initially stationed at Camp Rucker, AL. He was later deployed to Japan and finally Korea.

Leon married and had three daughters: Donna, Terri, and Vici. He was a self-employed entrepreneur for many years before entering the insurance business, where he became a CLU and a Million-Dollar Round Table member.

In 1972, he married Mary Sue Franklin and together they brought Paul Perkins and Joe Pippins into their home as foster children.

A member of Southside Rotary for 20 years, Leon was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Tulsa.

Leon had a very strong Christian faith and was a Bible Study Fellowship student for many years. He regularly attended church at East Side Christian Church and finally at Cedar Ridge Christian Church.

His long-time hobbies included exercising, all water sports, and OU football and basketball.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Stagg; sisters, Clella Walker (James), Carolyn Robbins (Armen), and JoAnn Waters (Ronald); daughters, Donna Lowe (Bill), Terri Wise (John), and Vici Lacy (Don); son, Paul Perkins (Heather); and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who knew him as "Pops". His many friends and family will miss him dearly, yet will keep a lifetime of cherished memories.
