LeRoy LaRue Wallace was born to LeRoy Franklin Wallace and Catherine May Stratton Wallace on December 5, 1936, in the residence behind his father's radio repair shop on third street in downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma.
LeRoy was a lifelong Tulsa native. After graduation from Webster High School in 1956, he joined the Air Force. In 1958, he entered the Air National Guard serving in Vietnam in the 125th Aeromedical Evacuation Flight. He was instrumental in establishing the Environmental Health Program for the 138th TAC Unit and Chartered the Oklahoma Air National Guard Chief's Council, which is comprised of all Chief Master Sergeants within the Oklahoma Air National Guard.
He retired from the Oklahoma Air National Guard in May 1991, with 32 years of service. At the time of his retirement, LeRoy was the Command Chief Master Sergeant for the state of Oklahoma. During his years of service, he received many awards including the Oklahoma Meritorious Service Medal.
LeRoy was employed with Oklahoma Natural Gas for 40 years retiring in 1996, as their corporate safety administrator. He served and was recognized as a leader in numerous organizations in the safety profession receiving many awards and honors.
LeRoy was a gentle, loving man with a heart of gold. He had been an avid hunter since the age of 12, enjoyed snow skiing, hiking, fishing, spending time outdoors, including his recent hobby of flying model airplanes with his "best bud and brother", Randy. God, family and friends were very important to LeRoy. He was a faithful member of Life Tabernacle, a man of strong faith who had a personal walk with God. He was patriotic and loved serving his country and other people. His most recent battle was won on March 28, conquering multiple myeloma following a 12-year struggle. He was surrounded by his loving family as he entered eternal life into the Presence of God.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
LeRoy is survived by his wife, who is the love of his life, Patsy Wallace of the home, son Bryan Wallace and wife Trish, daughter Rachel Wallace and Richard Lett, daughter LaDawn Stabler and husband George, six grandchildren and many other loving family members.
Funeral is under the direction of Moore Southlawn Chapel where the family will be receiving visitors Sunday, March 31, 4:00 to 6:00 pm.
