Leslie John (Les) Pearson, age 65, of Sand Springs, OK passed away on December 26, 2016 in Tulsa, OK after courageously battling a lengthy illness.
Les was born in Fairfield, IA to John H. and Margaret L. Pearson on July 15, 1951. Les attended Cardinal High School in Eldon, IA and graduated in 1969. In the 70's Les owned and operated a Peterbilt semi that he was very proud of driving coast to coast. He moved to Tulsa, OK in 1980 and soon thereafter attended Tulsa Vo-Tech where he earned his A&P Mechanic License. He was employed with American Airlines for 30 years. Les mostly enjoyed spending quiet evenings at home with his wife Cindy and their 4-legged fur baby, Gracie. Les also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially being "Papa" to his six grandchildren. Les truly enjoyed many forms of cooking; but had a special passion for smoking delicious meats which his family and friends had the pleasure of enjoying on many occasions. He also found great joy in lending a helping hand to a friend, neighbor or anyone who needed it.
Les was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret L. Pearson. He is survived by his father, John L. Pearson of Ottumwa, IA; father-in-law Bill Gudell and wife Ima Gene Gudell of Okla. City, OK; wife, Cindy Pearson, of the home; son Eric Pearson and wife, Leigh Pearson of Fairland, OK.; daughter Hayden Combe and husband Justin Combe of Shawnee, OK.; stepson Jeff Shelton of Rockwall, TX; stepdaughter Stacie Pales and husband Stephen Pales of Talala, OK; and grandchildren Kierstin Keys, Payton Shelton, Andrea Pales, Elijah Pales, Ashton Pales, and Adelynne Pearson.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of the doctors, nurses and entire medical teams at Cancer Treatment Centers of America, St. Francis Hospital and AMG Specialty Hospital. A special thanks to everyone that continued to pray for Les throughout his illness.
