Leslie Barnes, 87, of Tulsa, OK, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2026. He was born on Monday, December 5, 1938, in New York City, New York, to Robert Barnes and Mary (Dunn) Barnes. Leslie was married to Michele (Taylor) Barnes on Saturday, January 17, 1970, in Brooklyn, New York. He served in the Army as a Military Policeman, in Germany during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was Manager of Document Control at American Airlines. He and Michele moved to Tulsa with their three children while working for American Airlines. He attended West Virginia University and completed his bachelor's degree in history at the University of Tulsa. He and Michele were members of Boston Avenue United Methodist Church. Leslie was a talented artist, a great dancer, enjoyed studying history, going to the gym, and volunteering at the Tulsa Police Department. He was always curious about technology. He was extremely proud of his Scottish Heritage. Leslie's greatest pleasure was spending time with his family and grandkids.
Leslie was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Michele Barnes; two daughters, Kirsten Stovall of Broken Arrow, OK; and Kara Heller and husband, Chris of Sapulpa, OK; son, Glenn Barnes of Tulsa, OK; six grandchildren, Blake Stovall, Logan Stovall, Dylan Stovall, Jacquelyn Heller, Caroline Barnes, and Harrison Barnes; two brothers, Robert Barnes and wife Carol of Florida, and Paul Barnes and wife, Nancy of South Carolina; and a lifetime of friends. He was known as Dad, Grandpa, Uncle Les, Mr. Barnes and meant so much to all who knew him.
