Leslie Barrett was born in Tulsa on May 19, 1953 to Kenneth and Betty Barrett. He attended public schools and made East Central high school marching band. He also loved playing in Rock bands outside of school. He began early in 8th grade with a Ludwig red sparkle drum set. He lived in Stillwater as a young adult to play in a Rock band and remained life long friends with those band mates. He met and married his first wife Rebecca, called Becky. They were married about 17 years and had Matt Barrett. Matt later developed a passion for playing drums and Rock music. Les worked many years for John Zinc company, first in the Flair division and then in Combustion rentals. He traveled the world for his work duties. In 1993 he suffered a life threatening endocarditis infection which created lifelong heart issues. He endured 3 aortic heart valve replacement surgeries. He was a runner in spite of his artificial heart valve and completed a Chicago Marathon. He married his second wife Marla Barrett in 2001. They built a life around his health issues with humor and persistence. He was overjoyed in 2015 by the birth of his grandsons, Paxton and Maddox. He made them laugh and they charmed him.
