Obituary

Lester "Red" Charles, age 92, passed away on December 22, leaving behind a legacy defined by faith, family, hard work, and a love story that spanned a lifetime. Red was born on August 29, 1933, in Pryor, Oklahoma, to Razz and Goldie Charles. Raised in a generation that valued grit, responsibility, and perseverance, Red grew into a man of quiet strength and determination. He shared a special lifelong bond with his twin brother Blackie and was also blessed with a sister, Pauline, who preceded him in death.

One of the defining joys of Red's life began early-he met the love of his life, Christine-his next door neighbor, in the fifth grade. From that young age, they were inseparable. Their bond only deepened with time, and they went on to share 66 years of marriage, building a life rooted in loyalty, devotion, and annual arguments over Thanksgiving dressing. Christine was the center of Red's world, and everything he built was for their family.

Red proudly served his country in the United States Army, including time stationed in Germany. After returning home, he chose a path of skill and craftsmanship, attending Spartan Welding School, where he became known as a highly skilled and respected welder. His precision, discipline, and pride in his work set him apart and laid the groundwork for a successful career. Through years of dedication and perseverance, Red eventually went on to own Tulsa Trailer Parts and Service owning the only Trailmobile dealership in Tulsa. He built a business known for honesty, reliability, and hard work. His success was never accidental-it was earned through long days, stubborn determination, and sacrifice. His worn-knees from jumping out of trailers proved it.

Above all else, family was Red's greatest priority. He was a devoted father to his daughter Lesli, a proud father-in-law to Darrin, and a cherished Papa to Conner (wife Maddie) and Nathan (wife Chloe). He was also a proud great-grandfather to Isaiah and a great- granddaughter Riley, who is on the way. Red was a charter member of Southwood Baptist Church and his life was quietly guided by his faith in Christ. When he wasn't working or spending time with family, he found joy in simple things-trips to Branson, burning the grass in his front yard to make room for new, greener grass, mowing the neighbors' yards when they were on vacation, and singing in the church choir.

Known as an incredibly strong, stubborn, and hardworking man, Red showed his love through action-by showing up, providing, and standing firm. His life was one of steady success, deep family devotion, and enduring values.

Red was preceded in death by his beloved wife Christine, his parents Razz and Goldie, and his sister Pauline. He is survived by his twin brother Blackie, and a family who will carry his legacy forward for generations.
