Culbertson Lewis A. Passed away November 17, 2013. He was born August 11, 1921 to Clyde Culbertson and Muriel (Scott) Culbertson. His parents and a brother preceded Lewis in death. He attended grade school and high school at Kellyville OK. He graduated from Oklahoma Military Academy, Claremore, OK, Curtis Wright Tech., Glendale, CA, and Air Corps Aircraft Engineering School Yale University, New Haven CT. During World War II he served in the 315th bomb wing of the 20th Air Force (Guam), as B29 Maintenance and Structural Repair Officer. Shortly after Japan surrendered he went to Japan to assist the Pacific Air Command in organizing the return of B29's from the islands to the United States.
In 1946 he returned to the United States and married Amelia (Millie) Formby of Kansas City, MO. They made their home in Tulsa, OK. Lewis joined his father in the oil well drilling and production business. During the drilling slump in the late 1950's he went to work for Seismograph Service Corp., retiring in 1981. He was active in the Air Force Reserve, retiring as Lt. Colonel.
He spent his retirement years caring for relatives and designing and building all manner of things in his home shop. He especially enjoyed building furniture and toys for his grandsons. He enjoyed flying and flew out of Harvey Young airport for several years. He is survived by his two sons, Arthur of Severna Park, MD and Russell of Austin, TX and Russell?s wife, Nancy Koch and their two sons, Dex and Cade.
