Lewis Nathan Dillon, 97, passed away in Owasso, OK on August 19, 2019. Born on February 18, 1922 in Union, Iowa to the late Errol Cody and Nellie Julia (Hammond) Dillon.
Lewis served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He retired from American Airlines as a Maintenance Operations Coordinator after 31 years.
Lew and Vernal were married for 74 years and were long time members of Eastwood Baptist church. Lew served as a deacon, in the bus ministry, Vacation Bible School, golf tournaments, director of SAM's Group Ministries for 5 years, senior choir member and sang with Gloryland Men's Group.
Lew enjoyed golf, fishing, gardening and his daily grocery shopping. He was the official bargain basement shopper. Lew also enjoyed coin collecting.
Every year for Lew's two week vacation around July 4th the family would make the trip to Union, Iowa to see Lewis's parent's, siblings, cousins and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents and 7 siblings. Survived by his, wife, Vernal Moran Dillon; son, Lewis Dillon II (Lynda) of Norman: daughters; Julia Moffett (Tony) of Coweta, Nancy Campbell of Tulsa and Cindy Braswell (Frank) of Upland, Indiana; 16 grandchildren; 27+ great grandchildren and 2+ great-great grandchildren; sisters, Pat Niner of Missouri and Margie Cobb of Iowa.
Viewing will be 10am-8pm, Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Moore's Southlawn Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 1pm, Friday, August 30, 2019 at Eastwood Baptist Church with the burial following in Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors.
