Lewis Temple Price, Jr.
August 2, 1933 - June 4, 2026
Lewis Temple Price, Jr. of Tulsa passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on June 4, 2026. His 92 years on this side of eternity were focused on faith and family.
Lewis was born on Aug. 2, 1933, at Tulsa's Morningside Hospital (now Hillcrest Medical Center). He is preceded in death by his parents, Ita Barksdale Price and Lewis Temple Price, Sr., and his wife of 68 years, Charlene Johnson Price.
Growing up at Tulsa's First Baptist Church, Lewis trusted Christ and was baptized at the age of nine. He spent summers working at his dad's lumber yard and hardware store in Red Fork, developing a strong work ethic and an interest in construction. In 1951, he graduated from Tulsa Webster High School, where he played football and basketball and participated in student government.
Lewis attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration, served in the AFROTC, pledged Baylor Chamber of Commerce, and met the love of his life, Charlene Johnson. After being introduced freshman year, Charlene and Lewis were inseparable and were married the day after graduation - May 28, 1955. He was an extremely proud alumnus and devoted Baylor Bear.
Lewis received a commission to the U.S. Air Force in July 1955 and served in the Strategic Air Command as a B-47 pilot. Following his discharge, he worked briefly in the insurance industry in Dallas before returning to Tulsa in 1964 to take a job in commercial property management.
Soon after, he built his first house in Forest Hills, helping to spark residential construction in midtown Tulsa and launching a long career in home building. Along the way, he ventured into commercial leasing and earned his Realtor's license. Lewis built dozens of homes across Tulsa County, approaching each as a "labor of love," carefully designing them for families with meticulous quality and timeless style.
A lifelong member of First Baptist, Lewis viewed stewardship as a privilege and served through the years as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and usher. In 2005, when FBC undertook a major renovation project, he became its liaison with the construction company, a role he found tremendously fulfilling in service to the church he loved.
Lewis believed in putting family first. He was an encouraging, supportive father to four daughters for whom he created countless precious memories full of love and laughter.
He is survived by daughters Julie Davidson and husband Steve, Jill Pinkerton, Polly Richman and husband Ken Quesenberry, and Penny Graham; grandchildren Sam Davidson and wife Alexis, Price Pinkerton, Libby Pinkerton, and Wesley Graham; great grandsons Theodore Lewis Davidson and Malachi Davidson; sister Joan Coleman; one niece and two nephews and their families.
The family wishes to express gratitude to the staff at Stonehaven Memory Care and Live Well Hospice for their extraordinary compassion and kindness.
A memorial service will take place on Monday, July 20, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5111 S. Memorial Dr., with a reception immediately following in the Family Center.
"And now abide faith, hope, and love, these three; but the greatest of these is love." 1 Corinthians 13:13
