Obituary

Lillian (Lil) F. Bowden, 83, passed peacefully Sunday morning on September 15, 2024 at the Porta Caeli House. She was a widower of Charles "Magellan" Bowden. Previously married to Charles Howard, Percy Cheek Sr., and Walter Gillespie Sr.

Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Mildred Johnson and Joseph Farley. She attended Booker T. Washington High and several years later was awarded a GED. She held several different job titles, RN ( Indianapolis, Ind.), PSO (Field Rep.), EMT and a Forklift Driver, hauled pipes and equipment for T. D. Williamson. She then retired after working at T. D. Williamson to become a care giver for her ailing husband, Magellan.

She was a member of Greenwood Christian Center. She enjoyed taking her beloved dog (Charlie) to the park, listening to music and Joyce Meyers, spending time with her grand and great-grand children, and playing a game of dominoes. She was very genuine person, very sincere, the real deal. Dignified, organized and resourceful. She had a way of captivating you with her humor, and wit. Determined to make you smile or laugh.

She was survived by: her children (4) Wanda, Walter Jr, Percy Jr, and Linda;
Grand children (12) Candace, Lola, Lois, Antonyo, Andrew, Desiree, Kiara, Durashia, Kevin, Nicholas, Dominic, Ikia; Great-grandchildren (20) Aniqua, Isaiah, Emile, Emari, Aniya, Emanuel, Asia, Joe, Mia, Antonio, Amiri, Araiyah, James III, Jayden, Kyson, Kyzer, D'mihryn, Chrissiah, Zakira, Jaynia; Great-great-grand children (7) Teana, Layla, Krissa, Deontae, Juliana, AJ (deceased), Kerin

She also was survived by her first cousin Preston and his children.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Lillian touched are invited to Moore's Funeral Home Southlawn Chapel, 9350 E. 51st St., Wednesday September 25, from 5 to 7pm for the Viewing and Thursday September 26, starting at 10am Memorial Service. Graveside service will be at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
