Linda Flossie Downs-Smith 74, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2026 in Tulsa, OK. Linda blessed this earth on March 3, 1952 and was The beloved daughter of Cordia B Downs and Theodore Julius Downs. Linda was raised in the vibrant city of Los Angeles, California together with her 4 siblings.

She was preceded in death by her father Julius Downs, mother Cordia B (Doxey) Downs, brother Gerald Downs and husband John E Smith.

While growing up in Los Angeles, Linda attended Ebenezer Baptist Church. After moving to Tulsa, OK, she became a member of Morning Star Baptist church for over 45 years. During this time, she served as a member WMU, treasure for Six-T, grief and pastoral search committee. Linda's journey to Oklahoma, led her to beauty school. It was in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she met and married, the love of her life, John E. Smith, and they built a beautiful and abounding life together.

Linda was a devoted mother to her two children. Her nurturing spirit, love of God and unwavering support shaped their lives in countless ways.

For 31 years, Linda dedicated herself to her career at AT&T, where she found joy and fulfillment before retiring. During this time, her class, sophistication and creativity shined through in her talented skills as an artist and in her gardening. In her retirement years, she cherished the time spent with her children, friends and extended family creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter.Those that are left to cherish Linda's memory are her daughter, Dr. Danelle C. Smith, of Tulsa Oklahoma, her son John B. Smith, of Norman Oklahoma, 2 sisters Cordia Moore and Caroline Sayles of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and 1 brother Julius Downs, of Los Angeles California, as well as a host of beloved nieces and nephews, other family members, friends and we cannot forget her dogs (her babies): Motley Doolittle (preceded her in death), Piper Rose and Shorty Longfellow.

Her legacy of love and resilience will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Linda will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the joy she brought to everyone around her. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the memories of her family and friends.
