Linda Kay Frame, of Tulsa, died on June 23, 2024, at the age of 79. She was born to Carmon D. Gibson and Jessie Bell Hudspeth on December 28, 1944 in Checotah, Oklahoma. Linda attended school in Muskogee through the eleventh grade at Central High School and later obtained her GED while in her fifties.
Growing up, she enjoyed swimming at Honor Heights and Spaulding Park and attending dances at the YMCA with her brother. She was an excellent seamstress and made many of our clothes when we were younger, even taking on the task of making a wedding dress for her daughter Melissa until her nerves got the best of her. Idleness was not part of her nature, and she could work circles around anybody. She was creative and industrious, changing the decor in our home quite frequently and beautifully. On one occasion, to the ire of our Daddy, we came home to find she had sawed our coffee table in half to make two end tables. We thought it was funny and were never surprised at what her endeavors might yield next.
Linda was a homemaker for many years. She loved playing bingo, several times a week at various venues in Muskogee. She even took on cleaning houses for extra bingo money. Many times, taking her mother-in-law Lorene, whom she loved and was especially close. Linda was also very close to sister-in-law Carol Brossett, lots of shenanigans with these two in those earlier days of raising their babies.
Linda was naturally funny, comical, reactionary, and easy to scare. She could cry easily but was much quicker to laugh. Her laugh, rather her cackle was infectious, and you could not understand a word she was saying while she was laughing. However, she could have a quick temper and shoot you a disapproving look with the eye of an assassin. She very much enjoyed her trips to Las Vegas with her girlfriends, in which it was marathon slots with little to no time for any meals or sleep.
By example, she taught us to take care of family and home. Our home was always immaculate, and she was very rarely without hair done and make up on. Over 20 years ago, Linda began working for Muscogee Creek Nation in Muskogee, before moving to Tulsa and transferring to River Spirit Casino. Her work ethic was unmatched and very rarely did she miss work, her uniform shirt always pressed. She enjoyed working at River Spirit and made many friends. She was well liked and received many promotions and accolades.
Linda was one of a kind and will be sorely missed. Her grandchildren, Lexi and Kamryn were the apple of her eye and her two-year-old great-grandson, Jack, was the light of her life. Mille, her beloved dog will miss her terribly. She was small in stature but mighty in strength and determination. Despite her many health challenges, she took on the latest health ailment with determination like the others, but this one proved too extensive, and her little body could no longer rally. We are broken hearted, yet, we take solace in that she is no longer suffering and her body is new again and ready for dancing or bowling.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two nephews, Phillip Polumbus and Jimmy Soctomah. She is survived by two daughters, Carmelia (Mia) Brossett (Sandy Burggraf), and Melissa Tarwater (Chris Sullivan). Two granddaughters, Lexi Wiedenhaupt (Josh) and Kamryn Tarwater (Max Kazarian) and Great-Grandson Jack Wiedenhaupt. Brother, Carmon DeWayne Gibson (Christine) of Austin, Tx, sister, Barbara Skrnich (Michael) of Muskogee, Ok as well as a host of adored nieces and nephews.
