Sue Hembree, born Linda "Sue" Kindschi on January 21, 1947 in Guthrie, OK, was the daughter of the late Dale and Betty Kindschi. She was reunited in heaven with her parents on January 4, 2023 at the age of 75.
Sue grew up on the family farm southwest of Orlando, OK, graduating from Orlando High School in 1965 with a class of 7 students where she was active in basketball, 4H, church youth group, and sang in a quartet. She attended Oklahoma State University and met her future husband, Reece in the dormitory cafeteria. They married at Orlando United Methodist Church on September 3, 1966.
Sue was a friend to everyone, she had a heart for helping those in need. She was a prayer warrior for her family and others, Bible study teacher, Sunday school teacher, Stephens Minister, volunteer for many organizations and involved in endless activities. She would always remember special dates of family and friends with cards, calls, lunch or dinner. She would also take meals to those in need who were going through hard times with health issues or loss of a loved one.
Sue was active in the churches they attended and still has lifelong friends from Memorial Park Christian Church, South Tulsa Baptist Church, Asbury Church and Fathbuilders class there, all of Tulsa. She was also active in Bible Study Fellowship for over 20 years in Tulsa and was a leader for most of those years. She has more recently been involved with other local outreach to less fortunate students in and around the Tulsa area.
Sue could brighten anyone's day with her big smile and cheerful spirit. She had many friends she enjoyed spending time with and ministering to. Some included friend groups for Mahjong, book clubs, canasta, herb society, and lunch meetings.
Sue is survived by her loving husband, Reece, of 56 years, her daughter Dana (and husband Lonnie) Green of Owasso, her son Dave (and wife Laurie) Hembree of Tulsa, and she was such a great Mimi to 4 grandchildren - Gabriel Green, Maggie Hembree, Emily Hembree, and Caleb Green. Sue is also survived by her sister Pamela (and husband Tom) Steichen of Choctaw, and many nieces and nephews.
Sue's celebration of life will be held at Asbury Church in the Mason Chapel in Tulsa, OK on what would have been Sue's 76th birthday on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 11am. There will be no graveside service as that is how Sue would have wanted it.
