Obituary

Linda Jo Madison, 77, Tulsa resident, passed away Friday, May 14, 2021 at her home surrounded by loved ones. Linda was born in Miami, Oklahoma on November 27, 1943 to Harold and Alice (Clark) Hulsey.

Linda grew up in Commerce, Oklahoma and attended school there from elementary through high school. At Commerce High School she was involved in the Glee Club, State and National Honor Society, Tiger Chat, Pep Club, Powder Puff Football, Book Club, Spanish Club and the Class Play. She was in the marching band where she played the drums. She was also the Bengal Tales Queen Attendant her senior year of high school.

Linda then attended NEO A&M College in Miami where she met Jerry Madison. Jerry and Linda were married August 8, 1964. After completing NEO A&M, Jerry and Linda moved to Tulsa, where Linda attended the University of Tulsa. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Education and taught elementary school for over 30 years. Her husband Jerry was drafted into the Vietnam War and Linda stayed with family and taught 4th grade in Commerce.

When Jerry returned, they began their family having a daughter, Heather Jo in 1969. From there Linda taught in Cromwell and Morrison, Oklahoma. Jerry and Linda completed their family with a son, Adam Wayne in 1980, and another daughter, Jolinda Anne in 1981. She retired from Springdale Elementary in Tulsa in 2002 after serving as a first grade teacher for 26 years. Linda later welcomed triplet grandchildren, Andrew, Tala, and Jacob Thorne. They gave her much joy and entertainment throughout the years.

Linda's hobbies included reading Christian novels and the newspaper. She enjoyed watching her favorite soap opera, Days of Our Lives, which began in 1965. She had a passion for collecting Barbie Dolls and enjoyed a large unsweet tea from Sonic every day.

Linda had a lifetime of pain with nonmalignant tumors in her back. She pushed through the pain and raised a wonderful family. Linda was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma Cancer in February of 2020 and fought extremely hard until the very end where she is now rejoicing in Heaven, pain free and whole again!

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Wayne Madison and her parents Harold and Alice Hulsey, father-in-law, Dabner Lee Madison, mother-in-law, Mildred Madison Rivett, son-in-law, Dr. Johnson Thorne, and sister-in-law, Sharon Hulsey.
