Linda Lou (Newman) Weathers, loving mother, grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, and friend, was called to her eternal home on October 13, 2021 due to complications of COVID-19. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family and friends. Linda was born October 29, 1942 in Stillwater to Richard "RO" Newman and Betty Lou (Bennett) Newman. The eldest of three children, Linda graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1960 and majored in Journalism at Oklahoma State University. She married Van Weathers and had two children, Eric and Teresa.
Linda was an on-air reporter at KTEW Channel 2 in Tulsa and served as director of Public Relations at several companies, including United Way and American Heart Association. A strong believer in the redeeming grace of Jesus, Linda has ties to Yale Avenue Christian Church, East Side Christian Church, and Anthem Church. Linda was very active in Bible Study Fellowship as well as the Walk to Emmaus movement, serving others on staff in many walks over the years. She will be remembered as a strong woman with a loving Christian faith who was admired and respected by all who knew her.
Linda is preceded in death by her father and mother, and her brother Mark Newman. She is survived by her brother Richard Newman Jr. and sister-in-laws Janet Newman and Cheryl Newman; Her son Eric Weathers and grandson Marcus Weathers; her daughter Teresa (Weathers) Camera, son-in-law Carl Camera, and grandsons Christopher Camera and Kevin Camera.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation in Linda's name to Voice of the Martyrs.
