Obituary

Linda Lee Yate Carr was born on Saturday, March 11, 1939, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Lloyd and Mae Yates. Twenty-eight thousand, nine hundred four days on this earth were ordained for Linda in the Lord's book, and she lived them to the full.

Graduating from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa in 1956, she then attended Abilene Christian College, receiving her degree in Education. While there, she met Jerry Duane Carr, fell in love, chased him down and then had him chase her. They married on May 30, 1963. They became parents to Michael in June of 1967 and Amy in 1969.

Linda spent her career in education, in Texas, California, and the Tulsa, Oklahoma area, first as a classroom teacher and then as a principal, having earned her Master's in Education in 1991. Linda welcomed daughter-in-law Julie Lyles into the family in 1989 and son-in-law Corbyn VanBrunt in 1992, which ultimately led to the addition of a total of eleven grandchildren; Madison, McKenna, Justus, Coleman, Maesyn-Lea, Ashton, Jairus, Journey, Cale, Merci and Jakin.

Linda and Jerry retired from education and devoted themselves to their grandchildren and in serving their church family and those in need of prayer and counsel. Jerry proceeded his beloved Linda when he passed from this life two years ago, and Linda joyfully joined him before the Lord on Sunday, April 29th, 2018, the full measure of her twenty-eight thousand, nine hundred four days gracefully and beautifully lived.

She is survived by her son Michael and daughter Amy, their spouses, her eleven grandchildren, and her sister and her husband, Faye and Lloyd Bentley. She will be celebrated and missed, not only within the Tulsa community, but also by those near and far who were recipients and benefactors of her exceptional love and prayers.
