Obituary

Lois Klahr, 92 was born October 22, 1921 in Carl Junction, Missouri to William
and Elfie Barr and passed away January 23, 2014. Lois was the youngest of four
children and spent most of her youth in Miami, Oklahoma. Lois and her sister Ruth who
were often mistaken for twins had an exceptionally close relationship throughout their
lives. Despite the mileage between them as adults they still remained close and spent
hours talking whenever they had the chance and most assuredly have resumed those
conversations now.
Lois married the late Roy Klahr on November 15, 1942, was married fifty-six
years and had four children. Lois spent many years ardently supporting her four children
in their educational endeavors, scouting programs and athletic teams and then repeated
the feat with each of her grandchildren.
Lois had a quick wit and a ready smile which was appreciated by all who knew
her. She had a strong sense of fair play and "a fervent work ethic which she passed on to
her children and grandchildren. Her favorite word was integrity which was aptly worked
into many conversations.
Lois retired as a secretary after more than twenty five years of service with Tulsa
Public schools having worked at Revere, McArthur and Booker T. Washington schools
and the education service center. She was a member of Yale Avenue Christian Church
and loved a good game of bridge. Lois spent her last year being lovingly cared for by the staff
at Companions Specialty Care Center. The family wishes to thank Physician Choice Hospice
for their invaluable service and care the last two months.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, parents, oldest son Bill Klahr, sisters,
Ruth Murdock and Imogene Keckler and brother Wendall Barr. Lois is survived by her
children and their spouses, John and Raquel Klahr and Peggy and Pat Keith of Tulsa and
Tom and Geri Klahr of Colorado. Lois is survived by grandchildren and their spouses
Forrest and Kristi Fields of Tulsa and Adam Keith and Sophia Brumby of New York
City. She is survived by Kris Klahr and fiance Kaylin Muirheid of Tulsa and Nick and
Brett Klahr of Colorado. Lois is also survived by the newest addition to the family, great
Granddaughter Bailie Elizabeth Fields.
