Nadine Moore passed away in her sleep the morning of November 10, 2014. Though the years had taken away her strength, she was blessed with unbelievable mental energy and good humor to the very end. Now she can be forever reunited with her beloved daughter, Kathi.
Lois Nadine Parker was born to James Mancil Parker and Pearl Grace (Walden) Parker, in Marble, Arkansas on June 14, 1929 in the home of her parents whom she loved very much along with her brother Paul who died at age nine when she was seven. Perhaps because of her "Walden" heritage she was very fond of Thoreau and quoted him often, her favorite being, "Be true to your work, your word, and your friend"
She came to Tulsa at age 17 from The School of the Ozarks to attend The University of Tulsa and The Hillcrest Nursing School in 1946. She was barely old enough to take state Board exams when she became a registered nurse at age 20. She loved her chosen profession and truly believed the Robert Louis Stevenson saying, "If a man loves the labour of his trade, apart from any questions of success or fame, the gods have called him". Indeed Nadine had found her calling.
She worked as a Nurse around Tulsa for several years prior to joining the St. Francis Hospital staff at the birth of the hospital and serving there the rest of her medical career. Nadine retired from St. Francis after 24 years, having devoted a major part of that time as Head Nurse of the Emergency Trauma Department.
After retirement she was able to devote more time to her other passions. She immersed herself in the challenging game of Duplicate bridge competing in tournaments near and far and once to Mexico City. She attained the rare rank of Gold Life Master. Dr. Moore as she was known among her Bridge friends for her penchant for "operating" at the bridge table. Although she had to curtail her playing and travel in recent years because of her health, she continued to enjoy her bridge friends and many other friends made through the years.
Self- taught in everything from bridge to browsing the net her curiosity was always fresh and deep keeping her on a never ending journey of discovery. Nadine was a friend to many and when needed she was always there to help through difficult time's without hesitation. We her children don't know what we would have done without her in our lives.
For all her accomplishments she was most proud of her role as a mother to her three children. She is survived by her sons Robert Moore of Tulsa, William Moore II and his wife Janelle of Nathrop, Colorado. She is also survived by her grandsons William Moore III and Timothy Roach along with six great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by grandsons Ryan Moore and Jim Roach.
She will be dearly missed by scores of her friends who knew and loved her.
