Loren Lee England, 83, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather, Brother, and Friend passed away peacefully at home, Thursday, November 16th, 2023, his wife Beverly and daughter Jill by his side.
Loren was born March 22, 1940, in Lane, Kansas, the second son, to James W. England and Hilda E. (nee Block). He moved to Paola, Kansas with his mother and brother, Ray, in February of 1944 shortly after his fathers death. He attended elementary school at First Lutheran School until the eighth grade and later graduated from Paola High School with the class of 1958. After the death of his father, he spent many days playing with his brother and cousins at his grandfather's switchboard on Block Corner.
Loren met his fun and lovely wife Beverly in 1957 through mutual friends at the Playmart in Paola. Beverly was a keen dancer and although Loren did not dance particularly well she noticed the tall, skinny guy leaning against the wall watching. They started dating and would later marry in July of 1960. They made their home outside of Louisburg, Kansas, then Hillsdale, Kansas and eventually to a farm south of Paola Kansas, where they raised their two daughters.
Loren went to work for Delco Remy, a division of General Motors, in Olathe, Kansas, shortly after graduating from high school. He continued to work there for 33 1/2 years until his retirement in 1992. After retiring he and Beverly moved to Oklahoma to be near their daughters and grandchildren. They joined Grace Lutheran Church where he worked in maintenance for 20 years, before retiring again.
In his younger years he enjoyed horse back riding, farming, and having a beer and a laugh with his friends from Delco. More recently he enjoyed camping, fishing, cruising on the pontoon, being with his family at the lake, and a good game of pitch every week with his church friends.
Loren was always referred to as a kind man with a good heart. A gentle giant, always ready to help if needed. He was a man of faith, he was baptized into the Lutheran Church on April 14th, 1940 and confirmed April 11, 1954. He spoke of heaven in his last days and was looking forward to seeing his Grandpa Block again.
Loren is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Beverly, of the home, two daughters, LeAnn (Michael) Flemings, Jill (Randy) Pierce, all of Tulsa. Six grandchildren, Alex (Lizzie) Charon, Hannah (Colby) Poulin, Aaron Alfin, Colby (Lindsay) Pierce, Lindsey (Nathan Hipps) Pierce and C. Austin (Savana) Pierce. Six great-grandchildren, Nolan Pierce, Evelyn Pierce, Samantha Charon, Abigail Charon, Laramie Hipps, and C. Denver Pierce. He is also survived by his three brothers, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
