Obituary

Loren D. Krase, 69, passed away at 3:05 a.m. Saturday, November 1st. Loren was born in Wichita, KS on January 13, 1945 to Carl and Florence Krase. Following graduation from Kingman High School, he attended Kansas State Teacher's College, Emporia, KS. There he met his wife, Judy Fouts. The two were married on September 4, 1966; both received under-graduate degrees from KSTC (now Emporia State University) in 1967.

In 1972, Loren completed his doctorate in physics at Iowa State University. From 1972 to 1977, he did post-doctoral work at Rice University and the University of Houston. In 1978, Loren began a 21-year career with Amoco as a research engineer in Tulsa.

In his life, Loren was a devoted husband and father, very actively involved with the activities his children pursued. He served many roles in church leadership (including youth leader, deacon, elder, and moderator) at Bethany Christian Church. He served on church regional and Tulsa Metropolitan Ministries committees and on the TMM board. He was an advocate of social justice and equality, and volunteered in community endeavors, including Meals on Wheels, Partners in Education at Grissom Elementary, PFLAG, and the United Way Board.

He received much enjoyment from his many interests, including camping, gardening, stained glass, banner making, history, geography, ecology and the sciences. He enjoyed traveling and planning fun and educational family vacations.

He is survived by Judy, his wife of 48 years, son Jeff Krase of Mountain House, CA., daughters Lori Krase-Cayton (Owen Cayton) Ankeny, IA., and Melanie Tipton (John Tipton) Tulsa, grandsons Toviel and Mattai Cayton, brothers Larry Krase, Bartlesville, OK, and Kevin Krase, American Canyon, CA, sister Kathleen Dextradeur, Ottawa, KS, and a host of relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that friends contribute in Loren's memory to Bethany Christian Church or Phillips Theological Seminary.

Visitation is Friday, November 7, 2014, from 6:00 PM to 8 PM at Moore Funeral Home - Southlawn Chapel, 9350 East 51st, Tulsa, OK. A memorial service will be Saturday, November 8, 2014, 11:00 AM at Bethany Christian Church, Tulsa, OK.
