It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Frances Loretta Ruggeri, who went to our Heavenly Father unexpectedly February 2, 2024. Loretta Ruggeri was born in Fancy Farm, KY on January 2, 1935. She passed from this life in Tulsa, OK at the age of 89 surrounded by her children, Laura, Joe, and Mary who was unable to travel.
She grew up in Kentucky and started her nursing career in St. Louis, MO., where she met and married her solemate Gene in 1958. Gene and Loretta moved to Borger, TX to start their career, finally settling in Tulsa, OK in 1967 with four children. Loretta worked at St. John's Hospital where she started in the pediatric care and moved into NICU, where she helped opened two units. She retired after 40 years at St. John's Hospital and lead a very active life. Loretta volunteered at the Tulsa International Airport, was an active member at St. Pius X. She hosted a bible study, eucharistic minister to the home bound, active member of the Italian American Club, enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Loretta is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Ruggeri of 57 years, son John, her parents and two brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Laura (Alan) of Keller, Texas, daughter Mary (Randy) of Leavenworth, KS, son Joe (Tammy) of Oklahoma City, OK. Six grandchildren, Austin Hill (Rachel), Tyler Hill, Elena Johnston (Isaac), John Michael Ruggeri, Nick Ruggeri, Chris Ruggeri, 3 great grandchildren Natalie Hill, Bradley Hill, and Tristan Johnston, 2 sisters, 1 brother, many nieces, nephews and friends.
We are learning every day how loved our mother was and she touched many hearts. She will be greatly missed and be in our hearts forever. Rest in peace Loretta.
Rosary and visitation will be held at Moore's Southlawn from 6-8 PM Thursday, February 8, 2024 followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 10 AM. Entombment at Calvary Cemetery, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
