Appleby, Lori Dawn, born on March 16, 1961, in Tulsa to Larry and Judy Lewis. On February 10, 2024, she passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family and friends, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Lori attended Will Rogers High School. She loved bowling, softball, and watching football. In the early 2000s, she was elected as a member of the Tulsa Women's All City Bowling team. Lori played women's and coed softball for over 30 years. She was the TASA Coed director from 2006 until 2013 at Carl Smith Sports Complex. In 2008, Lori was also named as the Oklahoma Director of the Year in recognition of her outstanding performance as a director of Oklahoma USSSA Softball. After resigning as Coed Director, Lori and her friend Betty ran concessions at the softball park until 2019. She passed her love of softball along to her granddaughter, Wittle (Monica), who is playing softball at Crowder Junior College and recently made the Dean's Honor Roll. Once Lori's husband retired, their plan was to follow Wittle and her team around to watch her play the sport they both loved. Lori was the wife, mom, Nena (grandma), and aunt anyone would love to have. She was survived by her husband of 45 years, Mark Appleby; son, Marcus Appleby; granddaughter, Monica "Wittle" Franklin; mother, Judy Lewis; sister, Julie Welsh and husband Shawn; brother David Lewis; many nieces and nephews; Monty and Karen Franklin; and her special little Peanut Papoose, Amari. The Applebys would like to give a special thank you Les, Cindy, Jake, Riley, and Adam Severin for all the love and care they provided to Lori during our many trips to MD Anderson. Lori was preceded in death by daughter, Summer Appleby, unborn granddaughter Madison, and her father, Larry.
Services will be held at Moore's South Lawn on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, feel free to make a donation toward fighting cancer.
