Obituary

Lottie Mae Harvey was born on July 14, 1919 in Valiant, OK to Leonard Clayborn Harvey and Pearlie Ann (Byrd) Harvey; she passed from this life on January 23, 2017 at the age of 97.

As a child, Lottie's large family (4 brothers, 3 sisters) moved frequently from town to town in Oklahoma, as her Dad was a tenant farmer and part-time music teacher.

As a young woman, the family moved to Durant, OK. where she started working as a waitress, and met the love of her life. A handsome young Staff Sergeant in the Army Air Corps caught her eye, and, on October 10, 1942, they married and remained together for 33 years, until his death. Lottie & "Doc" moved to Tulsa, OK in 1945 where they raised three children.

In her mid 40's, she went to Cosmetology School and became a hairdresser with an "in-home" shop. After Doc's death, she closed her shop and turned her sewing talents into income by way of various craft fairs, and a booth at the Tulsa Flea Market for a number of years.

In her later years, she enjoyed painting birdhouses with colorful and whimsical patterns. Her last passion was repurposing vintage costume jewelry into earrings, which she lovingly gifted several family members.

Lottie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, E.R. (Doc); brothers Leonard Noble Harvey, Dewey Harvey; sisters Velma Harvey, Trudy Davison, brother-in-law Wayne Davison; half brother James Joplin, sister-in-law Maxine Joplin; sister-in-law Jean Harvey; half sister Ruby Walker, brother-in-law Wes Walker; nieces, Evelyn Walker Stanley, Margaret Walker Templeton; daughter-in-law Brenda Landers; son-in-law Jim Kirkpatrick.
