Lou Vina Jenkins, age 100, a longtime resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma died Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at St. John Hospital in Tulsa. She was born November 13, 1916 to Hester Eva Jenkins and Robert Henry Jenkins near Vinita, Oklahoma. She attended Douglass High School in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. In 1937, she decided to dedicate her life to Christ. Later she moved to Tulsa and earned a high school diploma from the Adult Learning Center. In 1974, she also attended the Tulsa Business College earning a certificate as a professional secretary. She began to work in the Church of God in Christ and over the years served in many different positions. Her passion was working with the youth and teaching the Word of God. Also, as the church mother, her vision was to assure that every woman under her leadership knew their Bible, and learned their role in church. She has outlived all her siblings: Henry Jenkins, Eva Sofia Jenkins, Alex Cash Jenkins, Eubert Rockefeller Jenkins, Ida Mae Jenkins-Brown, Eulala Olive Jenkins and Carrie Jenkins-Ogans.
Mother Jenkins has made a footprint in history by winning souls to Christ, helping in the community and where hands were needed, so was she. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Greater Lansing Church of God in Christ 4909 N. Martin Luther King Blvd., Tulsa, OK with interment following at Memorial Park Cemetery 4200 Nowata Road in Bartlesville, OK.
