Louis Phillip Barajas, age 80, of Tulsa, Oklahoma died on December 9th, 2017. He was born June 14, 1937 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Maximino and Frances Barajas, preceded in death by his parents and his sons Louis Phillip Barajas Jr. and John Max Barajas. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted sisters Carmen Barajas and Lucille Bell, brothers John and David Barajas, daughter Alejandrina Barajas and sons David and Jose Barajas, nieces, nephews etc. He graduated from Holy Family High School, then enlisted in the Marine Corps to serve his country. Upon completion of his services and an honorable discharge, he returned to Oklahoma to continue his pursuit of a college degree. He attended NSU in Tahlequah, and then attended the University of Arizona, where he earned a Master's in Education and Administration. He was a History teacher and then became a guidance counselor, working with students and their families to talk about their future. He coached men's baseball, football, track & field, woman's volleyball, softball, and basketball. He was a dedicated educator, a trustworthy colleague, a devout father, brother, and friend.
He thoroughly enjoyed working on his cars and the cars of his kids. There was no job too complicated that he couldn't handle himself: oil changes, radiators, hoses, and filters didn't stand a chance. He was a very dedicated U of A Football fan. He had seniority on the patch of grass on the South side of the stadium, and was known for his attendance. He tried his best to never miss a kickoff, whether in person, or on TV. His enthusiasm was so contagious that it was easy for his family to love the U of A as he did. He loved his parents and siblings, he loved his family, and he loved the Arizona Wildcats.
He dedicated a large portion of his career to the Tohono O'odham community in Sells, Arizona. He was a guidance counselor at Pierson Middle School, Nogales High School, Rio Rico High School, Tohono O'odham High School, a principal at Tohono O'odham High School and Santa Rosa Elementary, and ended his career as an administrator in Supai, Az, as a guidance counselor for the Havasupai tribe.
