On June 17, 2023, Louis Adair (Big Chief) Bruere of Broken Arrow, OK, passed away peacefully at Baptist Village. That evening the clouds parted and his parents and sister ushered him home to be with the Lord.
Louis was born in Tulsa on January 9, 1935. After Louis graduated from Central High School, he got his degree from OSU. After receiving his degree, he joined the U. S. Air Force and had planned to make a career out of the service, but made the tough decision to return home to tulsa to assist his father to help run the family's printing company, Bruere Business Forms, which he continued until his retirement.
After his first marriage ended, he met Nora Jones. The two single parents married. His son, Brad Bruere and her daughter, Jennifer Ford were their only children.
Louis was a life-long member of Eastwood Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years as well as a member of the Lions club where his focus was helping children. He was an avid fisherman, novice golfer and enjoyed metal detecting and his beloved OSU Football.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis V. Bruere and Cora M. (Adair) Bruere; sister, Leila Y. Bruere; wife, Nora M. (Jones) Bruere; stepdaughter, Jennifer (Ford) Jones Emerson; granddaughter, Sandy Emerson; great-grandson, Devin Emerson.
He is survived by his son, Brad Bruere (wife, Cindy Bruere); grandson, Zachery Bruere (wife, Katherine Bruere); great-granddaughter, Caroline Bruere; grandkids,
Gina Emerson Barnett (husband, Mark Barnett) and great-granddaughter, Jerrica Emmerson; David Emerson and numerous great-grandkids and great-great-grandkids.
Viewing will be 10AM-8PM, Friday, June 30, 2023 at Moore's Southlawn, 9350 E. 51st, Tulsa, OK. Funeral Service will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel. Interment will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, July 3, 2023 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa, OK. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233
