Louise Wallace Allis
Louise Allis, 80, passed away May 2nd, 2018 in Tulsa, OK. Born August 13th, 1937 in Sayre, Pennsylvania to Albert and Edith Wallace. She graduated from Central High School (1955) and Tulsa University with a B.S. in Math (1959). Her father was one of the physicians who started Springer Clinic. Her mother was one of the original members of the Tulsa Garden Center and remained active throughout her life in this organization.
Louise and her father shared a passion for sailing, which she instilled in her husband and children. While sailing she always wore one of her biggest smiles. Louise followed in her mother's footsteps in her love of gardening, serving as a volunteer of Tulsa Garden Center Auxiliary. In 2000, she became a Master Gardener and generously gave her time to help others increase their enthusiasm for Mother Nature's wonders. In addition to her love of gardening and sailing, Louise was a dedicated volunteer in the Junior League of Tulsa where she worked on various community outreach projects as well as being a member of staff of the Gusher Magazine. Her boundless energy also gave her time to serve as a President of the Children's Auxiliary. At the end of her volunteer career, she began her 20 plus year journey in education as a Certified Math Teacher at Holland Hall and in the Tulsa Public School System. After retiring, she continued to substitute for several years. Her joy for teaching was an inspiration to us all. She would often speak about her enthusiasm to help a child overcome their fear of math.
Louise is survived by her sister: Mary Wallace Warner, Tulsa, OK; Children: John Allis, Houston, TX, David Allis (Joan), Pensacola,FL, Barbara Smith (Troy), Broken Arrow, OK; grandchildren: Ryan Allis, Andrew Allis, Ross Smith (Britelle), Emily Smith, and Chloe Allis; her beloved Shih Tzu, Lucy.
