Obituary

Annie Louise Jones McCrory was born August 26, 1926, in Rankin County, Mississippi. She passed away July 6, 2020, in Tulsa, OK. She was the second of four children born to Calie T. Jones, Sr. and Mary Johnson Jones. In 1942 she graduated from high school in Johns, Mississippi, where she was valedictorian of her class. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in mathematics from the University of Southern Mississippi.
She met the love of her life, James Quitman McCrory, in 1948. They were married October 29, 1948 and began their adventure together. They moved to the Dallas, Texas, area where Quitman attended SMU. Then they moved to the great state of Oklahoma to continue their adventure in the United Methodist Church. They served churches all over the state from Muskogee to Boise City with many stops between. They retired in 1992 and have spent their retirement years in Tulsa. During retirement, they enjoyed many trips to Branson and Mississippi.
Louise enjoyed her life as a minister's wife - always at Quitman's side. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting- but most of all she enjoyed her family. She enjoyed her daughters - Moneka and Janice. She adored her grandchildren - John, Penny, Rebecca and Joseph. She really adored her great-grandchildren - Ashton, Conner, Henry, Clyde, Suzanne and Sammy.
Louise was always an active member of the United Methodist Church - she currently was a member of New Haven United Methodist Church.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Quitman McCrory; her parents; her brother, C. T. Jones, Jr.; her sister, Ruth Searcy; and her grandson, Joseph Potter.
Louise is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Mosely (Charles) of Cullman, Alabama; her daughter Moneka Hinds and her husband Harlan of Drumright, OK, her daughter Janice Hannon and her husband Craig of Tulsa; three grandchildren, John Quitman Hannon (Kendall) of Plano, Texas, Penny Lane of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Rebecca Hannon Jones (Aaron) of Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan; as well as six great-grandchildren, Ashton and Conner McCombs, Henry and Sammy Jones, and Clyde and Suzanne Hannon. Also surviving Louise are several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Home Instead and St. John Hospice for their love and care of Louise.
We will miss Louise and her kind and gentle nature. We will miss the delicious and bountiful meals that she prepared for us - we do have her recipes - so her memory will live on.
