Obituary

Louie "Travis" Hill, 81, passed away on January 9, 2021 in Tulsa, OK. He was born November 17, 1939 in Watonga, OK to Louis Herbert Hill and Geneve Breon Hill. Travis went to Oklahoma State University, played football and loved the Cowboys -- "Go Pokes!" He continued his love of athletics by becoming a physical education teacher and continuing his passion for 32 years at Hoover Elementary. Travis loved his family but God took first place in his life. He knew Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church in Tulsa where he served as a deacon. Travis is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn, of the home for 60 years; sons, Travis Hill and his wife, Jana and Jason Hill; brothers, Gary Hill and Rick Hill; grandchildren, Madison Hill and Tyler Hill; and one of his best friends and dog, Gizmo. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests:Donation Information: < https://outlook.office.com/owa/redir.aspx?REF=-oYwAn_7JthmAdCq6wBUqAn2RRdl_Rc4IBbovFwb-aVk9bejgrbYCAFodHRwczovL3d3dy55bWNhdHVsc2Eub3JnL2RvbmF0ZS9ub3cvNTk0MTc0NS8xODQ4MC8.>"Travis Hill has been a longtime supporter of the Tandy YMCA. As a former staff member Travis worked with the YMCA of Greater Tulsa for nearly 20 years until he retired. From Thornton YMCA Aquatics Director to Thornton Maintenance Director and during his retirement Hill Landscaping beautified all of the YMCA's properties.

Travis had such an admiration toward the YMCA community especially the children he would see running through the Y every day. Travis is a long time donor to the YMCA Strong Kids and For A Better Us Campaigns. Travis' impact to the YMCA community goes far beyond his years of service.

In recent years, Travis visited the YMCA several times a week. He loved seeing the children, cracking jokes with staff and other members. He was and still is proud of the work he did for the YMCA over the years. He was proud to see his name throughout the building and permanently part of the Tandy YMCA story.

Thanks to the generosity of members such as Travis, the YMCA is able to provide quality programs and services to people of all income levels and backgrounds. Those unable to pay the full fee may receive a scholarship funded by the Campaign For A Better Us. I ask you to help the YMCA provide these resources with a financial gift to the Campaign For A Better Us. "
