Lucille Calkins was born in Datto, Arkansas on May 11, 1928, the eleventh of fifteen children of Jacob and Bessie Powers. She passed away peacefully at University Village in Tulsa on Friday, August 11, 2017 at the age of 89.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 plus years, Al Calkins. She is survived by two sisters, son Dennis (Faye) Calkins of Tulsa, OK; son Mike (Diane) Calkins of Portland, Oregon; daughter Linda (John) Rubottom of Owasso, OK; along with eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Her work life included selling Avon and as a salesperson at a toy store and at Anthony's. She retired from Tulsa Public Schools after many years of service as an administrative assistant.
For many years she served as the organist at St. John's Methodist Church in North Tulsa. She enjoyed dancing, traveling and playing the piano. Above all, she cherished her time as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
