Luther M. Upton was born on April 28, 1929 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, and died on June 6, 2017 in Tulsa. Luther was next to the youngest of ten children, and described himself as the last of the Oklahoma pioneers growing up on his family's farm.

He was the first in his family to graduate from college. Soon after this he was stationed in San Antonio, Texas while in the Air Force. On the same Sunday that he was baptized, he met Barbara at church. They were both studying at Freed-Hardeman where Luther soon began preaching at area churches. Luther and Barbara were married in 1955.

After teaching and preaching in Tennessee, Oklahoma and Texas, Luther devoted his life to full time ministry. About this time, their only daughter, Dena, was born. Luther preached for several years in the Kansas City area before returning to Oklahoma. Luther left full time paid ministry in 1979, but never slowed down in his work for The Lord, spending his retirement years as church deacon, elder, Bible class teacher, and personal evangelist. He passionately loved The Lord, as well as being devoted to his family.

He leaves behind his wife Barbara, daughter Dena, son-in-law Ted, grandchildren Elisabeth and Lukas, his brother James, and other extended family including three special nieces who supported him in his final days: Tammy, Marla, and Linda.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 9, 2017 at Park Plaza Church of Christ Chapel, 5925 E. 51st, Tulsa, OK. Moore'Southlawn 918-663-2233
