Lyne Whorton passed away Friday, November 26th, 2021 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Lyne was born January 27th, 1936 to Charley Walker and Velma Ralston in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Lyne graduated from Okmulgee High School before relocating to Tulsa with daughter Cheri and love of her life, Ronnie Whorton of Hollis, Oklahoma. Lyne retired from SWB Telephone Company after 32 years of service. Following her brief retirement, she accepted a position at Oral Roberts University to help cover tuition expenses for her son Lance, a gift that will never be forgotten. The couple have been members and actively involved in Evangelistic Temple, now Spirit Life Church, for more than 57 years. Lyne loved being part of the choir and participating in small groups because she loved people and her church family. An amazing hostess and cook, she is known for making some of the best pies on the planet. Lyne loved being active, attending live performances, sporting events and most importantly, any activity or event associated with her grandchildren. The couple loved to travel and were blessed to visit the Holy Land, Europe, Hawaii; and to take multiple cruises, canoe trip adventures and bus tours across the U.S. A kind, generous and elegant Lady, with a great sense of humor and a touch of directness...Lyne will be missed by many.
Preceded in death by sisters Virginia Schwartz of Portland, OR and Betty Maly of Okmulgee, OK. Lyne is survived by husband Ronnie Whorton of Tulsa; daughter Cheri Rhoades of Tulsa; grandchildren Blake and Paige Whorton and their parents, Lance Whorton and Belinda Whorton of Tulsa; and numerous nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
