Obituary

Marcelyn Louvae "Lynn" Johnson, 90, of Kansas City, MO, passed away on May 25, 2021 in Tulsa, OK.

Lynn was born in Kansas City, MO to Maybelle Rowley Foster & Howard R. Foster on June 4, 1930. She went to school at Wichita High School in Wichita, KS, and finished her senior year at Central High School in Tulsa, OK. She married the love of her life, Winston C. Johnson on May 13, 1947 in a whirlwind romance in Columbus, KS. She worked as a banker and real estate broker for many years. She was heavily involved in Meals on Wheels, Joy in the Cause, literacy programs, and sorority life. She was involved in Delta Theta Chi sorority, Taygeta Province, serving as President and a member of the Oklahoma Alpha chapter serving as Province Vice President. Lynn was also lovingly known as "Sarge" amongst her family and friends as she often laid down the law for those she deemed out of line. She relished teaching her children, grandchildren, and friends how to make proper Christmas cookies and holiday dishes, solving every puzzle on Wheel of Fortune before the contestants did, and knitting items for others as keepsakes. She received constant praise for her home cooked meals by many, including a recent feature by Savoy restaurant for her famous German pancakes. Lynn was truly one-of-a-kind, with a trailblazer spirit who had a passion for taking photographs of her vast amounts of family and friends for her scrapbooks, whether you were in the middle of eating or awkwardly gesturing. Lynn truly lived a full life, and she showed her passion for it every single day by sometimes emulating the "Energizer Bunny." Her family wants you to know that her song may have ended, but her melody will live on through all of us eternally, as she was the irreplaceable matriarch of our family tree. Without her, we are lost.

Marcelyn "Lynn" Johnson is preceded in death by her husband Winston C. Johnson and her son, Dee Johnson.

Marcelyn "Lynn" Johnson is survived by Bob and Dana Johnson; Jimmy and Victoria Johnson; Gary and Kathy Johnson; and David and Susan Johnson, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she so humbly bragged upon any chance that she got.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Todd Johnson, Jeffrey Johnson, Matt Rose, Lauren Lindsay, Jaime Vega, Andrew Prine, and Mark Mavrikos.

The family of Marcelyn "Lynn" Johnson wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Clarehouse and all staff members, St. Francis caretakers, Brant and Lisa, and her second family, which were her sorority sisters.
