"Be Happy For Me"
MERLENE "ELAINE" CONWELL - Born December 8, 1945 (76 years old) in Paris, Texas to Enoch and Velma Sharrock. She graduated from Paris High School in 1963. Raised on a farm in Novice, Texas, she was one of eight children. She and her siblings Sylvia, Kathleen, Sue, Claude (Sonny), Mary, James and Judy, were instilled with the values of hard-work, living life to the fullest and love of family- - and she did just that.
The value of hard work stuck with Elaine throughout her entire life. She was not only a homemaker, but she worked early on in a sewing factory, spent lots of hours picking cotton and working on the farm and also retired from Sears. She was not the type of person that could sit around, so she kept busy by learning and perfecting multiple crafts. Some of her talents included: pianist, poet, woodworker, painter, baker, gardener, seamstress, caretaker, and many others. All of these were in addition to the roles that she filled throughout her life as an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. Her talent and love were truly endless. Furthermore, her appetite to live life to the fullest led her to many adventures, including traveling throughout the U.S., Mexico, and Guam. She went on motorcycle rides, camping trips, family reunions, and so much more - she did it all with a smile on her face and an unmatched energy to do more. She was superwoman, and there was nothing she could not do. She spent countless hours with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren attending events, making birthday cakes, and teaching them the values that she learned, to help guide them through their lives, too.
In 2015, she was diagnosed with early stages of Parkinson's Disease. Shortly after, her disease progressed very aggressively, and her health began to decline. The last couple of years before she passed she would often discuss death and life. When she spoke about the end of her life she would always say, "Don't be sad - be happy for me." Because she would no longer have to suffer from this terrible disease and would finally be able to rest. Though, she is sorely missed by all of her family and friends, her memory will live on through us, and the values that she carried with her throughout her life will guide us on our future paths, too.
Elaine, Mom, Nana...We are happy for you, we are happy that you are getting the rest that you deserve. Though we try not to be sad, your level of impact on all our lives makes it difficult to not mourn your death and miss you dearly. But the way you lived your life will be used as motivation for us all to carry on and enjoy the time that we have. Thank you for being our inspiration, we love you.
In March of 2018 she lost the love of her life, her husband Boyd. She was also predeceased by her son, Cary Miner in 1986, who was tragically killed in a car accident. She is survived by her daughter, Cassie Lynn Pearson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, her step-children Kevin Conwell (wife Nancy) and Stephanie Clark (husband Jeff). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jeffrey Braden (wife Sheila) of Alabama, Savannah Pearson (Markall) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, her step grandchildren, Charles Conwell (wife Aly) , Chris Conwell and Caleb Conwell, Sabra Sewell (husband Gunnar), Sarah Duckett (husband Matthew) and Jake Clark, and her great-grandchildren, Cameron, McKenna, Lincoln, and her step great-grandchildren, Elora, Leighton, Josie, and Owen.
