Reflection of Life
Maggie Lee Lewis was born to Willie Clifton Lewis, Sr. and Katherine Delbridge Lewis in Abbeville, Mississippi on April 11, 1948 as the 4th of 9 children. Following the family's move to Tulsa in 1955, Maggie attended Ralph J. Bunche Elementary, Marian Anderson Jr. High and proudly graduated with the Mighty Class of 1966 from Booker T. Washington High School.
Following high school, Maggie took an interest in food service where she was given the opportunity to work as head cook for ARA Services and Parkview Baptist Church, retiring in 2004 after 25 years in the food service industry.
At an early age, Maggie professed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at Read Gift Baptist Church in Abbeville, MS. Maggie was a member of Shiloh Baptist and St. Luke Missionary Baptist and later joined Parkview Baptist Church.
She loved football, particularly the Oklahoma Sooners. Before taking ill, Maggie enjoyed reading, puzzles, cooking and sewing. Maggie shared a very special bond with her niece Shan, whom she called her daughter. She loved talking on the phone to all of her close friends and church family. On this past Sunday afternoon with all power in his hands, God called her home.
Maggie was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Willie Lewis, James Lewis, Robert Lewis and Steven Lewis. She leaves to cherish her memory daughter Sherese Lewis-Hester; sisters Maerine Davis, Anna Lois Lewis, Ada Peal Lewis; and one brother, Theroda Lewis. She will sincerely be missed by her close friends and family and a host of nieces and nephews.
