Major Francis Goodenough's Obituary
Major Francis Goodenough III, 73, died on Monday, October 16, 2017.
He leaves his wife of 52 years, Karen (Sprowl) Goodenough; His daughter Beth Smith and her husband Russ of Tulsa, OK; his daughter Martha Bruce and husband Rob of Wagoner, OK; his son Major F. Goodenough IV and his wife Patsy, of Broken Arrow, OK; his daughter Christy Bischoff and her husband Bob of Stevensville, MI; his daughter Hannah Comstock of Tulsa, OK; his son Joel Goodenough and his wife Michelle of Yukon, OK; and his son Paul Goodenough and his wife Heather of Broken Arrow, OK.
He is also survived by three sisters, 17 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in Three Rivers, Michigan the son of Major F. Goodenough II and Fern Adelle Goodenough.
He married his wife, Karen in 1965 and their two oldest children were born in Three Rivers, MI. He and his family moved to Ohio where the youngest five children were born. After moving back to Michigan temporarily, the Goodenough family moved to Tulsa, OK where he helped build the City of Faith hospital. He used his skills in construction to work on many projects around northeastern Oklahoma. After returning from Michigan in 1991, he worked at University Village in the maintenance department until he retired in 2009. He continued to serve the people around him with home repair and maintenance.
Major was known for his giving spirit, kind words, dedication to family, encouragement, wise counsel and his love for God. Major was a great listener and always wanted the best for everyone. There are many examples of his generous spirit and his fairness in business and personal affairs. Major spread the love of Jesus wherever he went.
Major demonstrated his love for his wife Karen in many ways. He made her breakfast each day and enjoyed cleaning up the kitchen for her. He made sure never to miss their Thursday night date night. She was the center of his world.
Major's legacy will be carried on by his seven children and all those whose lives he touched.
