Margaret "Maggie" Schooley, a retired school teacher, was born March 26, 1930, in Springfield, Missouri. Maggie was graduated summa cum laude from Drury College, Springfield, Missouri, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She was valedictorian of her graduating class, and received departmental distinction in English, Bible, Religion, and Philosophy. During college, Maggie was active in Zeta Tau Alpha, the Student Christian Association, the Women's Athletic Association, Alpha Lambda Delta, Beta, Beta (biology honorary), French Club, German Club, and yearbook. Maggie also served as president of Mortar Board, Skiff Chapter.
After college Maggie moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma with her husband, James Robert Schooley. She pursued graduate studies at the University of Tulsa and Oklahoma State University, and became certified as a special education teacher. She then taught special education courses for the Tulsa Public Schools. She also served on the Board of Directors at Ability Resources, was a Girl Scout leader, and wrote travel articles for the Imagen Hispanic Magazine. Maggie was a long time member of Boston Avenue United Methodist Church.
Maggie was gracious, loving, joyful, and had a strong enthusiasm for life. She enjoyed music, art, dancing, sports, bicycling, swimming, and traveling all over the world. She was loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed by her friends and family.
On September 26, 2017, Maggie passed away peacefully. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, James Robert Schooley; her son, Steve Schooley; her daughters, Terri Reinmuller and Shari Schooley; her nephew, Richard Turner, her niece, Trish Thomford; two grandchildren, Joseph Reinmuller and Danny Reinmuller, and a great granddaughter, Makenzie Reinmuller.
