Margaret Helen
Miller
August 27, 1945 – June 3, 2026
First Baptist Church of Tulsa
Starts at 10:00 am (Central time)
Margaret Miller, 80, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on June 3, 2026. Born in Miami, Florida on August 27, 1945, she was brought to Tulsa as an infant in 1946, where she would make her home through college. She attended Will Rogers High School, Oklahoma Baptist University and Oklahoma State University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Sociology in May of 1968.
Margaret was married shortly after college to James Rodney Miller. She and Rod lived in Oklahoma City for many years. They loved camping and sailing their 16-foot Hobie Cat in lakes all over Oklahoma. She served as an Administrative Assistant to the Bank President at an Oklahoma City bank before going on to spend many dedicated years with the Homer Miller Company in Oklahoma City. In 1976, her son John Ryan Miller was born. This began a string of endless wrestling matches, soccer games and football which she never missed. After retiring from the Homer Miller Company, she moved to Tulsa where she spent the rest of her years. She did not sit quietly at home in Tulsa. She volunteered for many years in the clothing room at First Baptist Church as well as working tirelessly sorting music each week for the choir and orchestra.
A woman of quiet grace and deep conviction, Margaret was a devoted member of her church, where her love of music found a natural home in the choir. Attending choir practice and singing in Sunday worship were the highlights of her week. She was known for her remarkable organization skills and her delight in the finer details of life - whether hunting for treasures at estate sales or carefully tending to her lifelong passion for stamp collecting.
Above all, Margaret cherished her family and her faith, and those who knew her will remember her gentle spirit and steadfast devotion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Austin Bacher, and her beloved son, John Ryan Miller.
Margaret is survived by her brother, Tony Bacher, and sister-in-law, Linda Bacher; extended family including Cathie Coussens, Caitlin Miller, Eric Vestal, and Kathleen Kaufman in Oklahoma City; and her dear caregiver and traveling companion, DeeDee, whose devoted presence was a constant source of comfort and joy.
A memorial service will be held on June 23, 2026, 10:00 am at First Baptist Church Tulsa Oklahoma 420 S. Detroit, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
