Obituary
Our mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Margaret was born on September 5th, 1926 in Bakersfield, California to her parents, Donald Haynes and Alberta Haynes. As a small child the family moved to Holtville, California where her parents owned a dry cleaning business and she was raised there. She went peacefully to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 25th, 2017. She was nearing her 91st birthday.
At the end of World War 2 she married Charles Royce Stokes on November 27th, 1945, whom she met while he was in the navy and stationed in San Diego, California and served in the south Pacific.
They moved to Miami, Oklahoma and started a family; Janice Marie Stokes was born February 20th, 1947 in Miami. The family moved back to Holtville and had two more children, Robert Earl Stokes on April 15th, 1948 and Carolyn Sue Stokes on July 5th, 1949, both born in Holtville. A few months later they moved back to Miami for a short while and ended up and settling in Afton, Oklahoma. In 1954, they moved to Tulsa where their last child was born, Paul Wayne Stokes on July 27th, 1954.
Margaret is preceded in death by her husband Royce, her daughter Janice and her son Robert. She is survived by her daughter Carol Lyseng and her husband Jerry of Williston North Dakota. And Paul Stokes and his wife Phyllis of Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Margaret is also survived by eight grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. She also has a sister-in-law and a niece in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Our mom will be missed greatly; she was very close to her family and loved being around the children in the family. We all have those special memories of events throughout our lives that she was part of. She nurtured us, she fed us, and she healed our wounds and battle scars. She did her best to help us get an education in school and in life. She treated everyone nicely and respectfully.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 29th from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Moore Funeral
