Hixon, Mari ?Beth? (McGraw), 68, passed away Friday, March 8, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Beth was born March 31, 1944, in Pittsburgh, PA to John J. McGraw and June (Burke) McGraw. The family relocated to Tulsa OK when Beth was 6.
Beth was a 1962 graduate of Edison High School and went on to earn her degree in Chemistry from Oklahoma State University in 1966, followed by a Masters in Counseling at the University of Tulsa. She was a member of Chi Omega Sorority and remains active in the alumni association. Beth married George E. Hixon, January 28, 1967. Their son John R. was born November 21, 1978.
Beth first worked as a Chemist for Sun Oil. She then taught chemistry one year at ORU, followed by 42 years at Tulsa Community College. She dearly loved her colleagues and students and took great pride in their success. Beth was also an active member at Cedar Ridge Country Club, the Chi Omega Sorority Alumni, TCC Faculty Forum & First United Methodist Church.
Beth is survived by her husband, George (of the home), son John, daughter-in-law Anna, and granddaughter Valin Grace of Lewisville, TX. Sisters Megan Matthews (Benny), Tracy Neuendorf (Alan), Kimberly Jones (Ricky), Sister-in-Law Judy Hixon, and Mother-in-Law Anna Lee Hixon. Nieces Angela Orr, Nora Robinson, Paige Jones, and Nephews Steve E. Hixon, Scott Neuendorf, Marc Matthews, Ryan Jones, Barrett Matthews.
Memorial Service, 2 p.m., Monday, March 11, 2013, First United Methodist Church, 9th & Boulder.
