Helen "Marie" Mayfield was born in Mena, Arkansas on December 16, 1925 to Ethel and John Stokes. She passed away peacefully on December 17, 2014 after celebrating her 89th birthday with family and friends.
Her family moved to Weleetka, Oklahoma when she was a young child. She graduated from Weleetka High School in 1943 and worked for Brown Trading Company and Jim Fleming Chevrolet Company. Marie met Wetumka, Oklahoma native Francis Mayfield and they married, moved to Tulsa and raised two children. Marie resided in Tulsa until 2010 when declining health took her to Baptist Village Assisted Living Center and Sterling House in Owasso, OK.
Marie enjoyed collecting antiques and filled her home with many beautiful pieces. She had a green thumb and her houseplants always thrived. Marie could be quite the character at times and fortunately for us, her spirit and sense of humor was there till the end of her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Dotter and husband Alan of Kerrville, TX; her son, Frank Mayfield and his wife Beth of Owasso, OK; her sister, Mildred (Gen) Steinfeld of Pomona, CA; two grandchildren, Laura McElhany, her husband Johnathan and their son Turner; Katie Von Aschen, her husband Bradley and their sons Cooper, Kenneth and Logyn; along with many nieces and nephews and her granddogs Ranger (Puppy Dog) Dotter and Rascal Mayfield.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents John & Ethel Stokes, her husband of over 50 years Francis D. Mayfield, and her brothers Raymond Stokes and Johnny Stokes.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Baptist Village Owasso and Sterling House Owasso for taking wonderful care of Marie and being her friend and second family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to "Folds of Honor"
