Marie York, age 91, passed away on June 26, 2017 at her home in Tulsa. Marie was born Hazel Marie Burney on March 31, 1926 in Clarksdale, MS; she was the daughter of Earl M. Burney and Francis L. (Holloway) Burney. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William B. York; brothers Aaron, Bobby, and Ray Burney; sisters Elizabeth Dixon, Ruth Carroll, and Grace Stanley. She is survived by her son William "Burney" York and wife Kim of Cherokee, OK; daughters Vivian A. Dugger and husband Dean of Glenpool, OK; Teresa S. Young and husband Chris of Tulsa, along with her thirteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Marie was a long time devoted member of Sheridan Christian Center, worked in the cafeteria of Nathan Hale H.S., and later went to work for JC Penneys where she worked for many years in customer service/pickup at the Promenade store. Marie was famous for her cooking and baking skills, talents enjoyed by her loving family and friends as well as many members of the Tulsa Police department.
Visitation with the family will take place 2:00PM until 4:00PM, Sunday, July 2nd at Moore's Eastlawn Chapel. Services are planned at Moore's Eastlawn Chapel for July 3rd at 11:00AM, with interment following at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa.
